Bali is one of those destinations that many people have on their bucket lists. It is well-known for its forested landscape, volcanoes, and beautiful sandy beaches.

Many people associate Bali with those luxurious resorts, white sands, and crystal blue oceans filled with coral reefs to explore, but there is much more to the Indonesian island than you might have realised.

If you are planning a trip there you may be wanting to see more of the island, with that in mind, here are some of the best places to visit in Bali.

Best Places to Visit in Bali

These are the bets places to visit in Bali. How many have you been to?

Ubud

If you are wanting a more peaceful and tranquil place to visit while you are in Bali then look no further than Ubud. A central location is mostly known for its monkey forest, sacred temples, stunning countryside, and art museums. It will show you what rural Bali is like and how the locals live, as well as giving you plenty of opportunities to experience different things.

While you are there visit:
Sacred monkey forest sanctuary
Museum Puri Lukisan
Ubud Palace
Monkey Forest Road

Kuta

To the south of the island, you have Kuta, a luxurious resort centre known for its party atmosphere, shopping malls, and surfing. Here you will find plenty of lovely hotels to stay at, and a glorious beach to explore. However, while you are there you may want to consider visiting other places which include:
Waterbom Balie – a great waterpark.
Jalan Legion
Odyssey submarine Office

Denpasar

One of the more popular locations to visit in Bali is the capital city, Denpasar. It is another Southern location mostly known for museums, temples, and a great beach for you to relax on. As well as plenty of shopping opportunities and wonderful places to stay. In the capital, you won’t be short of attractions and things to do while you are visiting. Some of the highlights include:
Sanur – one of the most laid-back and relaxing beaches.
Tanah Lot – An island temple with plenty of water views.

Bali museum

Jimbaran

Another popular Southern location is Jimbaran. It is a beach resort in Bali and while it is well-known for some of the most stunning beaches on the island, you may also like to know that there are also some other things to do while you are there. Jimbaran also has a bustling fish market, where some of the restaurants will serve some of the fresh produce and the iconic Dreamland beach. Here are some of the places you might want to visit while you are in Jimbaran including;

Dreamland beach

Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park – lots of green space and Hindu monuments.

Uluwatu Street – Shops and restaurants.

Canggu

Canggu is also in the south of Bali and is a location you would visit for some scenic and stunning beaches. One, in particular, is Batu Belong Beach where there are rock formations into the ocean making the coastline look unique and different from some of the others on the island. It is close by to the capital and also Kuta so there are plenty of other things to do while you are there.

West Bali National Park

To the west of the island, you have the West Bali National Park. Here you will find plenty of opportunities to experience and witness the different lifestyles and get close up to nature in some of the rugged surroundings. While you are there you may want to explore Menjangan Island which has a marine reserve or Palau Tabuan which is another tiny island of Bali that has beautiful beaches and plenty of diving spots waiting to be explored.

Kintamani

Heading north of Bali and you will find Kintamani. A great location for you to witness some of the other things Bali is famous for such as the volcanic landscapes. There are mountains here for anyone who is active and wants to see Bali from a different perspective, as well as lovely lakes that you can enjoy water sports on or relax on the water. It is a slightly different location from some of the others mentioned but gives you the chance to see Bali differently.

Finally, if you are one of those people that are coming to Bali purely to scuba dive or snorkel then heading to Padangbai is the place to go. Towards the east of the island, you have some amazing beaches including Blue Lagoon and Bias Tugel Beach. Some of the beaches have access to the best coral reefs for you to explore.
